Tele-PLAY
What is Tele-PLAY?
Tele-PLAY (Telehealth) provides clients with a virtual play therapy session through video calling using relevant software, such as Microsoft Teams or Zoom instead of face to face.
Clients living in rural and remote areas need to travel far to see their support and health services. Telehealth can allow clients to access vital support services that may have been previously difficult to access.
Engaging children in telehealth play therapy requires creativity, flexibility, and a deep understanding of each child’s unique needs. By creating a welcoming environment, leveraging digital tools, and maintaining strong communication, therapists can provide effective and meaningful therapy even from a distance. The key lies in adapting traditional play therapy techniques to the virtual world while ensuring that the essence of therapeutic play remains intact.
Tele-PLAY requirements: Clients must have significant impacts to accessing the play therapy sessions face to face. This could be due to physical disability, living in rural or remote areas. Clients will need access to a Technology device (iPad or computer with webcam), Microsoft Teams and reliable internet. Clients will require a quiet and private environment to conduct the sessions and a range of play resources.
